The first game introduces Kyo Kusanagi, a young Japanese fighter who is the heir of the ancient Kusanagi clan, who wield pyrokinetic powers. Kyo represents the Japanese team with his best friends, a Shootboxer named Benimaru Nikaido and a Judo master named Goro Daimon.
